Old satellite dish & D10 receiver

Have an old (2000 ish) sat dish and D10 receiver that was set up for Directv. Don't have the access card. Does anyone know if this setup will work if I can get an access card from Directv, since I now service in my home?
  • TV will likely phase out SD in 2019. Spending $20 today for a new card for your D10 receiver should be a pretty good investment compared to the other options. Assuming the receiver works and the LNB on the antenna is good you would be up and running in short order.
As long as you don't have a Genie at home you should have no issue and even if you do have a Genie you might be able to find someone who understands you will be using this in your RV (vacation cottage).
  • If the old dish you have is taller than it is wide then it's standard only. The D10 is standard only.

Should. Just need to contact Directv and ask them. Remember that is probably a SD only device and Direct is phasing out SD programing.

Both the dish and receiver or just the receiver is SD?
  • Yes it should work. The problem will be obtaining an access card. When DirectTV phases out SD TV I plan to phase them out and switch to Dish TV. We have a Carryout dish we use.
