RV GPS's????

Sorry - got two postings somehow.

7710 after almost 2 years and over 15,000 miles report. Screen/program freeze, dropped/zero satellite signals and no audio output. Sent to factory couple months after wty up and was fixed under wty. Current status: screen/program freeze four to five time a day, audio output jack intermittent, powers down once or twice daily (seems to be battery charge problem)
My summary:
Software is great - hardware sucks - would not recommend 7710. Can't speak for other models.
Hints:
1. Weak or no satellites - try rerouting power cord while watching number of sats. I ended up clipping mine to alum. windo frame
2. Get FM transmitter and connect to audio out jack to get audio thru radio speakers. Fantastic sound.
3. Suction cup mount will not hold for extended periods. This is a very heavy device, after days drive unplug and remove from mount.
4. If having glare problem try mounting on sun visor. That works great on our class A.

Garmin just released the RV 760 LMT

I got my Garmin RV760 a few weeks ago and gave it a workout on our recent trip. So far I'm impressed with the features, the mapping, the guidance, and the accuracy. It will be getting a real workout over the next month on a trip through WA,OR,ID and MT.

I bought a Rand McNally RVND 7710 and it is at the factory being remanufactured because it does nothing but freeze up, still under warranty. I got it for a 8,000 mile trip and had to make the trip without it.

Have a 7710 which I like and have used. Find it slow most of thge time. Recently bought a Garmin 2797 which is the same size and it is much more responsive, but does not have all the RV and other features the 7710 has. Will use the 7710 when pulling and the 2797 when sightseeing.

The new Garmin RV GPS is too new to know anything more about than the claims of the website. It is supposed to be available at the end of June (other than by ordering direct from Garmin). At this point there is no manual on the website for it - the link comes up with no manual. So this is a wait and see. The one feature that looks good is that is shows services up ahead on the route. Unlike some other GPS's Garmins do not show POIs on screen unless zoomed very close and the screen does not maintain the zoom for very long. This is a wait and see unit to keep an eye on and hear actual experience reviews from users. If I had to buy right now and could not wait for this to come out and be proven, I would still buy the Dezi.

According to another thread here, Garmin just announced an RV specific GPS. Go with a Garmin. Right now the Garmin Dezi is your best choice. The new RV Garmin may be even better with RV related POIs. Routing will be no different I am sure with this new Garmin than on the Dezi when set to RV mode.

Honestly, I was a big fan of the Rand McNally initially. But after the last trip, I was so frustrated with it, trying to make changes, the touch screen was a PIA and was frustrating me so bad I pulled into the next truck stop I saw and purchased a Garmin for trucks/RV's.

Huge improvement in my opinion.
