I think there are lots of options out there for you, from Free to Big$$$. If you and your friends and family are on the Windows platform try the free Windows Photo Gallery. There are no real editing options in the app, but for straight viewing, it is Free (as well as AD free), made by Microsoft, and reasonably intuitive for just flipping thru photos.
