I left the 'spiral' in end from where I uncurled so it could catch those digital signals - joebedfordNomad II

OP here,
Thank you for the responses.
There was no tv installed in the trailer when I got it. I was going to get one. I wanted to make sure if I picked up on that can receive digital signals that the current antenna will work.
Sounds like it should.
Yep, you are good to go.......If the antenna is working properly. You really won't know the answer to that part until you install a TV. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII replaced my antenna with a metal coat hanger..........15-20 channels when I am within 40 miles of towers

Sounds like it should. - wildtoadExplorer IISwapping out the tv is a good time to check all of your connections from the antenna to the back of the tv. Unscrew all of the external coax connections and check for corrosion and take any corrective action. Check the cable for deterioration and lastly lubricate the antenna workings so it works better and to prevent leaks. A great many antennas have been replaced when rust was the issue I suspect.
And while I agree the Batwing is the better antenna in wooded areas OTA tv can still be disappointing. - Sam_SpadeExplorer

I tend to disagree. My reception was non existent with the standard batwing
THIS is why people should NOT put too much reliance into a single personal experience......and the interpretation of same.
Your experience means: That your old batwing was broken or defective or the wires had come loose somewhere.
Your conclusion about antennas is absolutely false. - Sam_SpadeExplorer

THIS is the only answer you need. - D_E_BishopExplorerWith all segments of the antenna system being properly sized and installed correctly, my 15 year old Winegard Batwing is better than almost every antenna anywhere we camp. Quartzsite AZ is the only place where we have camped that I questioned "my system" and it turned out that I was getting the same stations everyone else was getting without any add-ons to their batwings. Without fail it beats the Jack in my never to be humble opinion.
As Jeff said, the odds are when a Jack, out performs a batwing, the batwing had failed.
