Television confusion.

Ok I got it working. Shut off the receiver, pushed ANT, ran the auto scan. I then turned on the receiver, started the DVD, pushed DVD, then went to add a channel. It didn't find the DVD. However I saw that the DVD is running on channel 4. So now if I want DVD I just play the DVD, push DVD and enter channel 4. The image is pretty bad but If I want a vivid image I have a dedicated theater at home. At least the kids will be happy on the long trips. You guys are the best

Right you can not enter a digital channel, but the DVD player's output is NOT DIGITAL

Also, if the DVD plays via the sound system and the TV has LINE IN (A/V 1.2.3) you might search those while playing a DVD through the sound system.

Now.. that SHOULD work... however in my case some idiot at the factory hooked the cables up kind of like the following ASCII drawing

You might notice the "Y" (yellow, or video) Cable is hooked up in a different column than the White (left) and RED (Right) Audio cables..

I moved the cable (I went to school to learn how to do that.. Well.. I already knew before I got to class but I really did get certified, yup, I'm certified. take that any way you like). (Electronics).

Back to channel entry.

The DVD outputs only base A/V. The modulator (in the switch box) Either chan 3 or 4 NTSC (Or close to it) Analog Good old fashion Chan 3 which you can manually enter.

I can also enter Digital channels manually but there is a trick.. You have to know the BROADCAST channel, not just the display channel, they may be different. For example I put in the proper channel and then the box beside the number I put in lights up with the DISPLAY channels when I'm doing digital stations. Takes a computer to keep it all straigt.

That would be true unless you read the original poster info. One cable to the back, a separate DVD and nothing else. That TV would not have any input option for any connection other than what comes through that coax input.

You will not be able to manually enter a digital channel (anything with a 2.1, 4.2, etc) as those channels must be "discovered" by TV's tuner to determine what the actual broadcast frequency is. Channel 2.1 in Miami is not going to be the same as channel 2.1 in Detroit.
There is a chance that if your TV has the manual add option you might be able to add an analog channel (3.0, etc) and it's likely the DVD is on 3.0 or 4.0.
The part I am most confused about is where you are doing the scan. I assume that the sound system you describe is NOT involved with this scan but only the TV. If so, just select TV on the radio and do a scan. Then try to add the analog channel that is used by the DVD. If this works you should never have to scan again when switching between inputs. If you can't add the analog channel see if you can find the Additional Scan option (on/off or check uncheck, etc.), switch to DVD and do the additional scan. As soon as you see 1 additional analog channel you can exit and it will be added to the list.

Most TV's have a channel edit feature that lets you add a channel, I do not know about yours however nor can I tell you the path or the specific name.

But it lets you add a channel,, Either manually or using an "EZ-ADD" feature

To use Easy Add... Set it to scan over the air.. Let it scan.. Then switch to DVD put a disc in the player and go to EZ-ADD it should re-scan adding chan 3 analog to the list.

To do it manually, go to manual add, and add chan 3

Chan 3 (Analog) is the same for ALL services, Ant/Cable type 1,2,3 and all, changes do not happen till farther up the band (Save for digital) I think 2,3, and 4 are the same, not sure about 5 and 6, changes happen between six and 7

Ok since it's so small, I'll explain.
From the left there are 5 buttons for the front tv, they are DVD,AUX1,ANT,AUX2,and CABLE
The next 4 are for the ext. TV and are DVD,AUX1,ANT,and CABLE.
The last 5 are for the rear TV and are the same as the front 5 buttons.

I would assume that you would play a DVD and push DVD for front and get DVD. Push ANT and get TV ststions. But you only get either ststions or DVD if you do a new search on the TV. otherwise you only get the sound throughout the coach for the button you select.
