Toddler and 2 grade apps mixed up on the two  Fire tablets

I am a newbie to Kindle fire tablets. I have searched amazon kindle for an answer and can not find one. So I turn to my RV friends.

I have 2 great-grandkids.  Ages 3 and 7.  The 3 year old has a used (new to  her) Kindle Fire HD 8.9 16GB.  The 7 year old has a Fire 5th Gen. When  I got the first Fire, (the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" ) I set up the two profiles for the children and downloaded a number (30 to 40) of free education apps.  At this time I learned that I need the second Fire so each child would have his/her own tablet.

When I got the second tablet a Fire 5 gen for the 7 year old, I downloaded a number of education apps for 1 and 2 grade.

I now have toddler and 2 grade apps mixed up on the two  tablets.  It is a mess.

I am thinking about erasing (reset to factory) and re-download all the free apps to the correct Fire.  However, if I understand correctly that if I do a reset when I re-register the two fires. Amazon will sync the units to the cloud and reload the mess. Thus I will still have a problem.

Since looking at the apps it is very difficult to identify which age appropriate they are, I welcome any suggestion on how to get only the toddlers apps to the 3 year old  fire and the 1st and 2nd apps to the 7 year old fire.
  • I would look online at Amazon
For a list of toddler apps

I would then keep only the apps on the list deleting the others
Use your pc or the other 'fire' to view the online list
While deleting on the toddler Fire

Do the same again for the 2 grade apps on the other tablet
  • Not sure if this would work but I would start by giving each child their own gmail account. Have the individual Amazon devices assigned to the appropriate childs email. You could also set up a new gmail account for yourself just to accomplish this. This would give you two separate devices with two different accounts that would not sync.
  • FYI, the new Fire HD 8 are AMAZING. Fantastic true HD screen. I got mine on a sale for about $50. Seriously think about getting a new Fire HD 10. Same type of HD screen. If a good sale comes by, I will likely get one !

This is what I choose to do. Had to change the children birth year. Gmail will not give an account to a young child.

All is working well now. Thanks . . . .:)
  • If you’re not comfortable with any of the suggestions being offered, you might try Amazon tech support, 888-280-4331. They’ve helped me out with a couple of Fire HD 8 issues.

Not an expert on teh Kindle's but do use Androids, which are alike in many ways (Even read Kindle Books on the 'droid)

If they all have the same ACCOUNT (not profile but account) Apps may be installed across the board. Android aps even install to my Chromebook now Even if I don't want them (Strange grin).

However on each device I choose the apps on the "Home Screens" and I can from the aps list menu choose an item that is titled HIDE APPS.

I tap that. then tap each app I do not want to show on that device, and tap DONE.. The aps are still there (When the child ages you unhide) but they do not show up.
