I have Verizon wireless for home and cell phone, I pay 39.75 for cell phone for 500 minutes family and friends nationwide that is tax and fees, I use about 30 minutes a month, the lowest minute plan Verizon has is 200 minutes at 31.25 I hate to leave Verizon I have had good service with them, they are all kinds of plans with tracfone pay as you go that is pretty cheap, has any of you had any experience with the tracfone while traveling out of your area of residence.

Thanks

I am interested in knowing how you did that? Both using an iphone on tracfone and the unlimited talk/text/data. Sounds great but I never was able to find an option like that. I would jump on that if I could!

I've used Net 10 for years: with the same phone. Decided to buy a new phone and with information from this forum purchased one that links to the Verizon towers. The phone was only $29.95. When the phone arrived is was in a Tracfone box. Connection issues that I had with the other phone do not now exist. This LG 236C phone is incredible. The interface is very similiar to my old phone, big keys, larger keyboard and incredible sound quality! Look into Net 10. It may work for you. It does for me.

You can use any regular Verizon phone or smartphone, and pay-as-you-go phones after I believe six months.

I've got a couple of Droids and iPhone on PagePlus.

Note that Tracfone, PagePlus, and Straight Talk, along with NET10, SafeLink, Telcel Amรฉrica, and Simple Mobile, are all owned by Tracfone Wireless, a subsidiary of Amรฉrica Mรณvil. Tracfone uses AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon towers, depending on the phone model, and for GSM phones which SIM is supplied.

Our Tracfone Android ZTE smart phones use the same towers as Verizon direct subscribers, the same as our Millenicom and Straight Talk hotspots.

Same as StraightTalk. Depends on the phone as to whether or not it is V or ATT. I have a new Nexus 5 so I use ATT ST for 45 per month. Yes, I can tether but I don't do it often.

Go to the PagePlus website, Amazon or eBay for phone choices. I like the LG-220 myself at around $20.

Roy, I switched from Trac to PagePlus and get very good service. I have to use Verizon at the cabin and so far no problems

I've used Tracfone for years. $99 per year. More minutes than I'll ever use.

once I built up my tracfone minutes I switched to the service continuation plan, $5.95?? or so a month. no minutes included, just keeps account active. when and if I need minutes just get the double minutes feature to refresh. the only place I haven't gotten coverage has been my house in southern VA. ๐Ÿ™‚ one block away OK service.

I have a triple minutes Tracfone and absolutely love it. I am not much of a talker so this works great for me. The coverage has been every bit as good as Verizon was for me but it costs me about $10 a month. I have a basic Tracfone I can send you no charge if you want to pay the shipping.

$39.75 is $477 per year.

$31.25 is $375 per year

You can get a Tracfone with double minutes built in for $9 and buy a 400 minute one year card of $99.

400 minute card gets doubled to 800 minutes and you often can find bonus codes which will add 200 bonus minutes for a grand total of 1000 minutes for the year or 83 minute per month.

You could buy THREE $99 400 minutes cards per year for $297 and without any promo bonus time get 2400 minutes which will give you the 200 minutes per month you currently use..

If you purchase your minutes cards from Tracfone website you can often get optional add on time or length of service days for a small additional amount.

For instance I needed to add additional days of service to my phone. Bought a $9.99 30 minutes/ 3 month card and when I went to checkout it gave me the option to buy 365 days of extra service for $45. So for $55 I got 60 minutes plus 15 months of service added. This Cost me basically $3.67 per month..

As far as service goes, Tracfone uses Verizion AND pretty much any other compatible providers towers. Basically netting even better service than being locked into one single provider..

I had Verizion years ago, while it worked fairly well I can say that my Tracfone works in places that my old Verizon DIDN'T..

Now keep in mind with Tracfone you won't have that 500 minutes family plan so you won't be sharing plan minutes or discounted free time between family and such so if that is an important part of your life you will lose that..

We have the tracfone (normal cell, not smart) and the coverage areas (when traveling) are not as good as the big carriers. Mostly ok when anywhere near big metro areas, but sincerely lacking when in smaller towns and rural areas.
