My DW and I have identical Samsung Galaxy S4 phones. The park wifi has the same SSID on both phones, both phones show equally strong wifi signals; but one phone connects and the other says it's connected but can't find the server. The IP address is 192.168.4.104 on the phone that works with the wifi; while the phone that doesn't work has a 192.168.4.129 address. I have tried to edit the IP address, but no go.My laptop works just like the phone that doesn't work, but works fine on my personal Verizon mifi as do both smartphones. This is way above my pay grade. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!PS: I've tried holding my tongue differently than DW but no luck there either.

Could the park wifi have reached it number of devices connect limit?Try turning off phone that works and see if you can connect other.Also very long shot but the password may only be useable on one device so that people cannot hog bandwidth

If the park is using some type of captive portal software, then they could be issuing a one device use password if required. If so, you could use the password for your laptop, and use a virtual WiFi hotspot utility or Windows built in Hosted Networks to share the one connection with your other smartphones.

No password required. I'm in Gulf State park in Alabama. No help from the park personnel-their answer is that it's "spotty".

Try this.. enter the I/P address of the hose, likely one of the following;192.168.4.1192.168.4.254(You can find it on some phones I do not knwo about the S-4 There is a free app (NETWORK SIGNAL INFO) that if you click on the Wlan tab will show you the gateway IP address, that should be the park router.You should get one of two pages.. One is a requestor (User name/passowrd)the other is a router info page (you can not modify)If you do you are connected to the router.. Beyond that I can not help.... UNLESS (Came to me as I pressed POST)Go to your settings pull down and long press WI-FI This will bring up a list of routers you can see the park should be at the top.LONG PRESS on it, and choose "Forget network"now once it re-scans press that one again (short tap) and choose connect.Possible issue: (I have seen this on my laptop) a thousand miles from home my laptop said it had found my home network (Back when had a house) I was fairly sure it had not.. Must be connected to the router as it assigned an IP address of 192.168.4.129 to the non working Net phone. Could be a hardware issue with the router or ISP.

Curious if you have tried assigning the working IP address the the laptop and try to get online. Make sure you turn wifi off on working phone or you will have an ip conflict.

Sad that they aren't willing to reboot the system to try and resolve this. I'm sure the employes are forbidden to touch it.

This CG doesn't seem to know anything about routers. So I would find it difficult to believe that they would change the default class C(24-bit) SubNet Mask, nor know anything about it? Can the OP post it here?

Some router firmware will restrict the number of available IPs by default. My Linksys will do this limiting to 50 assignable IPs starting @-.-.-.100, unless changed up to the max allowable based on the mask.

The working phone is being assigned an IP of 192.168.4.104, and non-working 192.168.4.129. That's not much difference? Considering it's a CG?

Actually, I'd try rebooting the modem which tends to be the bigger culprit with Net access issues than the router. Hopefully, they're not one in the same. The router appears working if assigned an IP address, but indicating no internet.

Not necessarily true. The IP address is assigned in the smart router by DHCP software, the routing to the internet is done in the router with different software. It appears to me the DHCP configuration is serving up an IP address that isn't valid for routing. The phone that works is getting an IP address in a lower half of the range whereas the non-working phone is getting an IP address in the upper half of the range. I'm guessing that whoever configured the netmask for routing in this router is off-by-one and rebooting won't solve the problem. It's a configuration issue in the router.

You should be able to reset network connections without having to wipe everything out.

Thanks for the suggestions, but nothing works. I haven't reset the phone because I hate to lose my apps and data, but I'm about ready to set back to default.

We ran into our first "case sensitive" login name (not password) 2 days ago. Never seen this before. Our Samsung S-4's refused to log on as they always "capitalized" the first letter of the user name. The net work, (Nellis AFB, Desert Eagle) uses all lower case. The "auto capitalize feature" in android devices can be turned off but it is inconvenient to do so, as well as to find in device settings. It took work (had to enter 2 "d"s and then delete the upper case one before it auto-corrected.
