I own a 2012 Open Range fiver with 9 remotes running everything from the 3 TV's to the 3 slides and 2 awnings and everything inbetween. So has anyone tried to get everything (15 things for my RV) on one remote and if so what remote did you use?

Just found a Logitech Harmony 880 remote/charger base at Goodwill for $5. Will give it a try. Great if it works with Nakamichi as I don't have the factory remote.

x20 for harmony remote. I now have 3 of them, all set up different (living room, and RV).

One thing I recently discovered about the Logitech remotes is that they have hundreds of devices encoded and available to be used but their online list of devices isn't the most user friendly. For example, in a previous post I noted that I had manually added my Roku because it wasn't on the list. Subsequent to that I did discover that Roku devices are on the list but they are included in a strange category, something like "media music players." My fix of adding it manually works just as well, I just wish there was a simple way to search for a device by typing in a name.

I don't use remotes. I don't want anybody thinking that I am so lazy that I can't tell my wife to get up and change the channel, etc.....:B

I have a Harmony 900 that I use in the RV and at stick house.

Some of the timing sequences are a bit fiddly, but it's not difficult.

Thanks Bill, Joel and Sandie I'll look into the Harmony. I have so many remotes for this RV it's crazy-Here's my list 3 TV's, 2 Awnings, 3 Slides, 2 DVD players, 2 Satelite boxes, 2 Security lights, Fireplace, Yamaha home theater and an electric TV lift in our living room.

I just went through this so I figured I would add my input, in case you're still messing with it. Even though I too have an Open Range RV, the universal I needed was just for 4 pieces of electronics. I have always used URC remotes over the years, due to their specialized programming abilities.

This time I figured I would try a Harmony 300. The remote is easier to set up because one goes on line and downloads the codes. But in your case, I doubt they are going to have codes for awning openers, etc. Just electronics.

Even though I got the remote set up, I still was not satisfied, as many of the buttons were assigned to certain tasks, which I would of had to memorize what they did. In other words, no custom labeling is available.

So I sent it back and picked up a URC RF20. I have two of these already in use at home, so knew what I was getting. Even though the UFC model takes much longer to program, it gives you multiple screens and the ability to name components and task buttons, along with adding or removing pages of tasks, and task labels themselves. One can make it as simple or complex as desired. The "learning" function will allow you to program anything that uses an IR signal.

So you can label one input "fireplace", and show the minimal amount of task button it takes to properly operate the fireplace, even if it is just one button.

You can also add a RF repeater/blaster, for stuff that is hidden. In our bedroom at home. I have the cable box in the attic above. The blaster works great in controlling the box while it is unseen.

Plus, unlike the Harmony 300, the URC has back lite buttons, for when the lights are turned down, like when watching a movie.

Back in the days of PDA's with I/R links there was a universal Learning Remote app you could buy for it.. Only issue was the lmited power of the PDA IR diode.

Today there are some universal remotes, some are learning remotes, in teh 50-150 dollar range that just might be able to do what you want.

Since I've never bought one.. I can not say more. but some of 'em are rather good from what I'm told.

x2. And I also use it for starting our gas fireplace at home. if what you want to control is a IR remote harmony will have a extremely high chance of controlling it.

I'm just saying it's something worth looking at. I have used them for years and they have handled all of "my" needs. YMMV.
I think anyone can look at the product and pricing and decide for themselves. If you disagree, that's OK as well.

Not all Harmony remotes are inexpensive; it depends on what features you need. We have a Harmony 890 which came with an RF extender that makes it possible to control devices that are inside cabinets. The TV and four other devices are controlled by the Harmony, including a Roku which wasn't on the list of devices (or it wasn't when I did the programming.) But it was still easy to teach the remote to control the Roku.

The Harmony remotes are quite inexpensive (around $100) and will control it all. You use their online setup guide and once you have everything as you would like you save it to the remote and enjoy.

I have a harmony that can plug into a USB outlet and download about 30,000,000 different devices. no more keying in a dozen or two different numbers for each device.
