- GulfcoastExplorerI bought an external antenna for my 4510L but have never been in an area that I needed it. On a 1000-mile trip mine will never loose connection, thanks to Verizon.
- daglenn1960ExplorerWe run an external Wilson trucker antenna for our Verizon wireless (ladder mounted), same setup we have at home (rural, weak connection). Makes all the difference in getting a connection in many remote or marginal connection places.
The 3gstore has what you need for the 4510L:

Wilson just came out with an "all band" version of their Sleek signal booster - I just installed it and coupled with the externally-mounted "trucker" antenna about doubles the signal strength the last three places we've parked - all 4G so far, not sure how it will handle 3G, but I've found that when Wilson says it will do something, it does. We put the hotspot into the cradle and leave it on all the time. Great while rolling down the highway.
al - SCVJeffExplorerYes. I have a gain antenna on the roof of the RV, and carry a 1/4u spike for hotel windows when traveling. The RV antenna can make quite a difference depending on location.
Final note.. Pay close attention to coax length! It is very easy to eat up the advantage of an external antenna simply by using excessive coax. I bought the Wilson Antenna and mounted it through the roof on top of the cabinet where the Jetpack lives, keeping the total length from antenna to Jetpack under 3.5'
