Does anyone have an update? I also see "not available at this time" on Walmart's website. I thought that this would be good option for Canadians like us who travel in the states from time to time. But maybe not, if it doesn't exist anymore??

I wouldn't rely on Walmart's website for stock availability. My own experience has been that it's notoriously inaccurate.

I've had instances where items were indicated in stock online, and none were actually available at that particular store. Walmart's managers will generally substitute another similar product for either the same or equivalent savings if at a significantly higher price.




Case in point, I was just at a local Walmart were Internet On The Go hotspot was indicated as being out-of-stock. Yet, found three of these in the store. My advice is to call the particular store directly.

We bought this on april 5. Cost was approx $80.00 for the card. We also bought a 1.5 gig anytime four $25.00


We are very happy With the service. It can be slow at times but all on all it gave us a very acceptable performance. would not consider it for any kind of business related internet access.


we were in Florida and stayed in St Petersburg, Panama City, Sandestin and in St Augustine. Then we drove back north on I95 towards Canada. The service was good in all these locations including while we were driving

I recommend it.

FreedomPop uses the CLEAR network. But coverage is an issue with any mobile service. If not available were you want to use it then it's pretty much a moot point. Whether it's with CLEAR, Verizon, AT&T, etc.

You need to check coverage where you intend to use the service, and hope that your location actually has a decent signal. Mobile data can be fine at one location, and drop out completely a block away. Though I have multiple Verizon smartphones, I have between 0-1 bar signal at my home location. Despite being in Verizon's full coverage area, just one mile from DC. When I had IDEN(Nextel), I had full signal coverage.

I've had CLEAR unlimited 4G for over three years, and been very satisfied as I have full signal at my primary location. Personally, I'm not going to lose sleep for being charged 0.99 per month for non activity.

But, as with any mobile service, you do your best to research your coverage, and then cross your fingers you actually have a decent signal at the location where you intend to use it.

Before you spring for FreedomPop, check out their coverage map. The only place you can get service in Colorado is in Denver and there are many states where there is no service at all. Also, when I signed up for their "free" plan, they started charging $0.99 per month to my credit card. When I called to find out why, I was told that for any month that I didn't use the free service at least once, I would be charged to help "spread the cost of the free service around." Go figure. Long story short, I dropped them.

I have a direct Truconnect account which is what Internet on the go is. It uses the sprint & t mobile networks and is fine for the basics. Since it runs on 3G it's not for streaming movies of heavy data work. For us it works for e-mail and basic web surfing. We use it at home and on the road with the wi-fi device. We pay by the mb's used and it usually runs us about $10. to $15 a month. It's definately not for the power users.

Walmart MIFI Internet on the GO

I wanted to buy one of these for my trip home from Texas but it wasn't on the Walmart.com webpage at that time but I see it's back. Wonder what happened?

I don't have a 'smart'phone. Don't see the point.
