Windows 10 - Playing Music ??

Windows 10 users....
I have a 500 gb usb external hard drive loaded with music and play lists that is currently attached to my Win 7 computer. If I upgrade to Windows 10, is there any sort of player that comes with it that will play this music / play lists made in Media player or will I have to purchase a player to listen to my music? If I do, that will be a show stopper for me...

What to use for videos? VLC ??

    Works like a charm.

Groove Music is also a native music app. Not hugely feature packed but does a decent job.

Overall W10 will so far use a LOT of your favorite "older" programs without any issue.
  • My recent install of Win 10 plays videos with Windows Media Player. I also downloaded VLC which works as well. I click on the video title on the drive and a window opens that is titled Movies and TV and it asks me what I want to open the video with - Win Media Player or VLC.

I have Win 10 on a tablet and notebook. Both will play video using Media Player. Perhaps you were thinking of Media Center which is not available for Win 10.

I use foobar2000 for playing music and audio books. It works well for books in that when you exit the program and start it again later, it remembers where you left off.

There is a music player, a Video player VLC still works as well.. Plus there are a whole raft of 3rd party players and editors and so on..

I do not often play music on the computer any more (Used to do lots of editing in the old days Still have professional grade software to do it with) but when I want to do it.. All the old programs still work. Well all but one, but I lost it.

  • Windows media player is still there as it has been for almost forever.
