Winegard carry out with HR44-500

The Carryout G2 antenna is not compatible with H25, HR34, or HR44 for DIRECTV (unless the SWM-840 accessory kit is added).

The HR24 can use either a 2 channel multiswitch or SWM dish. Check for use with the Carryout. At home you'll have 5+2 channel recording with the 2 receivers, SWM and operates similar to the mini Genie.

In the RV configure the HR24 for the multiswitch.

Plus buy a RF remote for the HR24 and you can install the HR24 in a RV closet if you like.

I had these 2 receivers for several months while verifying the HR44 operation as it had significant problems before the 1/14 update. Now I only use the HR44 with the RF Mogul dish in the RV. The house TV is 1080 and RV 720. The HR44 detects this via HDMI and automatically configures for the TV.

I have a detailed conversion sheet for moving the HR44 and may still have the HR24 (more involved) conversion sheet. Let me know if you want to see it.

I'd love to see the details... I'm a bit of a novice with this stuff so any detailed help would be great. I only have the HR44 now... No other rooms connected so I have no "lesser" receivers

The Genie will work with the Carryout if you add the SWM8 hardware but will not work at all without it. An HR24 is nothing like the 44 so it's just a matter of deciding which way you want to go. The Carryout would not allow the reception of any DirecTV HDTV programming but you will have full use of all the Genie features in SD.

BTW I used the HR24 with IR and RF remotes, with a Slimline 5 HD Dish, a SWM HD dish and a dual LNB round 18" SD dish.

It sounds like it would be easier to get a second box for home... The right kind of box to work with the Winegard, no?

Here's my HR44 list and most of these items don't change when I remove the receiver. But I keep the list handy and it was a carry over from the more involved HR24 move.

Home and MH – SWM Dish and HD Channels
1. Turn on receiver wait for setup to complete (about 2.5 minutes).
2. Menu-Settings & Help-Settings-Display-TV Ratio: Widescreen 16:9
3. Menu-Settings & Help-Settings- Display -TV Resolutions: Check all resolutions for Home
a. Use 720 for MH TV, however the resolution is automatically detected with the HDMI interface.
4. Menu-Settings & Help-Settings- Display – Video: Off, Pillar Box, Dark Gray – Native On increases channel change time
5. Menu-Settings & Help-Settings-Display-Preferences-Guide HD Channels: Hide SD duplicates.
6. Menu-Settings & Help-Settings -Satellite-View Signal Strength: 96% on all 5 tuners
7. Menu-Settings & Help-Settings -Satellite-Repeat Satellite Setup: Dish setup: Option 17 – Slimline 3S (SWM): Switch Type: 01: SWM (cannot change).
