Winegard Carryout dish. Power alternatives??

A friend is gonna gift me a Carryout.

I want to use it at home as well as on the road with Direct tv.

Is it possible to power it without having a 12v source nearby?

Can it be powered through the receiver?

Or.... is there a portable automatic dish that powers off the coax from the teceiver?

Thanks in advance for your help.
  • Yes standard is fine with us. I looked up prices on these satellite dishes earlier today and I can't believe how crazy expensive they are.
  • Yes. Just buy a 120V to 12V cigarette lighter adapter and you are all done! Costs about $30 at Camping World but there are likely other choices available.
The H21 will work but you will not get any HD programming, only the SD version. For many, that's perfectly fine.
  • My receiver is an H21. According to the specs it will work.

I guess i can pick up an ac to dc converter.
  • It needs power to auto rotate and locate the satelite. It does not work for Direct HD. It does not work with Direc SWM receivers. So the gift may not be so great atfterall.
