Xfinity internet

My I-pad says Xfinity internet is available at our campsight the only other option I am aware of would be a hot-spot off wife's Verizon phone. Has anyone else dealt with this option and recommend or advise to stay away from this option. Thanks, Jim.

I used the xfinity hotspot for several months last year. Not sure who but someone close in the campground had an xfinity modem. It worked out great for us. We could access our home DVR plus free high speed internet access. I treated it as a public network, used the phone hotspot for banking etc. Use it if your an xfinity customer, that's what it's there for.

We use their cell phone service also. We normally pay $38/month for 2 new iPhone 6s phones (unlimited text and phone calls) and a gig of data. Really happy with that!

Don't have their cell service. We have T-Mobile, $40 a month, unlimited talk, text and data. If you use less than 2gig in a month that line get's a $10 kickback so $30.

As was posted, that hotspot is for Xfinity customers only and they can log on using their Xfinity credentials. You will not be able to so that is not an option. Not that it applies to you, but since the Xfinity rental modems all default to providing publicly accessible hotspots, they are the most obvious choice for a nefarious person to spoof.

the XFin modems come with the “guest” feature enabled. we’ve disabled that “feature” on ours.

Xfinity routers are double devices. You will also see (more than likely) at least one other node at the same strignth.

What X-Finity does is this. IF you are a customer you get a password. You can connect to ANY Xfinity router using your roaming password.. So you can use the Xfinity router nearest you.

OF course Xfinity does not have what I would call an honest reputation they ripped off a friend of mine.. I witnessed him call to cancel his service but they still billed him for an extra month.. Complete rip off. I would not contract with them.

  • Never been an xfinity customer, we have cable internet at home and the wife has an I-phone with Verizon so she has internet on it. I have a "flip phone" and that is all I care to have, don't care for reading on a phone, too small for me. Also another reason not to use her phone for a hot-spot is I am retired and she has a business so I spend more time at the camp and sometimes would like to check something while she is gone. Hope this helps clarify what I want, Jim.
  • I’m not sure that I understand your question. If you are an Xfinity internet customer, they have “guest” hot spots in many places (every router that they rent comes with one) that you can log into with your username and password. It really works out well.
