- donn0128Explorer IIYou need to first figure out how to take the slide out. And I mean completely out, off the RV. From there it is pretty simple to strip the rubber, insulation, and plywood. Then you can inspect and replace rafters or anything else that is compromised. Rebuild from the studs up making sure dimensions are accurate. New roof membrain and slide it back into the trailer.
- B_O__PlentyExplorer III replaced a roof on a park trailer I had. No need to remove the slide at all. Once you strip off the fabric you can see if you need to replace any wood., it's right there in front of you. Did the whole job in a couple days including a couple rafters, insulation and roof decking. You take it apart..then you put it together the way it came apart. Nothing hard about it..
B.O. - AllworthExplorer IIGiven ladders or scaffolding, you can work on it in place.
You can even run the slide half way in and get to the inner edge of the roof from inside the coach. Not a lot of clearance, but doable.
Use lots of self-leveling lap sealant.
