Just curious why you want a bunk house? Do you have kids? If so, what ages? How many in your camping party?
Our second camper had bunks in the back, living room in the middle, and master bed in the front. Our kids were grown. We wanted the bunks for storage. We had the camper 8 years. Then came to realize one day we didn't like the floor plan.
Long story short, we now have a rear living room - opposing slides and large window on the rear. The slides have windows all around, so actually, from the living room area, you can see outside almost 360 degrees... almost. Walk around queen bed in the front, bath has 2 doors, one accessible from the bed room, the other from the kitchen-living room area. For a husband and wife only, the rear living room models with opposing slides are dynamite! Especially with the full window in the rear. And there is still more than adequate storage. After 3 years with this camper, we still have cabinet space not used.
However, if you have kids, I see the need for the bunks. Or if you are planning on kids, can see the need in the future.
This is just something to consider.
The best thing you can do is search the internet for models that interest you and then go visit different dealerships in your area and actually see those models. Often what looks good on paper, does not always look so good in person. You will find a nice layout floor plan on the internet could be much smaller than you anticipated. Yes, it is the floor plan, but it's really much smaller than you thought, and the entire camper feels very claustrophobic.
If you step into the camper, your first initial inpulse in the first 10 seconds will tell you if it's a good model for you or not. If it does not "Wow" you immediately, or if you do not have the "Ah Ha!" moment immediately, it's the wrong camper. Move on. You will eventually find it.
The purchase of our last camper was an interesting endeavor. We searched the internet and though we found the perfect floor plans. We scoped out 4 dealerships that had 4 different brands. We had 2 modes each we wanted to see. We had an order we were going to visit on a specific Saturday: Dealership 1, 2, 3 and then 4.
Something happened which changed our mind, and we decided to reverse the order and we went to dealership 4 first. The salesman would not let us go out and look at the models we came specifically to look at. He sat us down and asked us what features and design we were looking for in a camper. He then said he had the perfect camper for us, based on our description. And it was in the show room. He showed it to us first and ... OMG! It was perfect what we were wanting. It seemed like a beast of a camper, but it had every detail we wanted and more.
I then told him, we came to look at these 2 models and I want to see them. So finally, off to the lot we went. We looked at them... and both were a horrible disappointment. They were bunk models. Very claustrophobic, dark, no windows, cabinets that felt like they were crawling off the wall to attack you, and when actually standing inside, sitting at the table and the couch, both models were absolutely wrong. The floor plan absolutely sucked!
Well ... we made the deal that day and 2 days later towed that show room floor model home. It's the one in my signature block below. That dealer knew what we wanted, when REALLY, we did not! So, in all due respect, give those salesman a fair shake. But, don't let them high pressure you either. They can be either extremely helpful, or complete jerks.
It goes without saying, we nave made it to dealership 3, 2, or 1 that day!
