Ok. Stupid question. But I dont want to go out and buy a 40' rv and not be able to get it in driveway. I know there are probably a few factors to consider like obstacles such as mailboxes and trees, etc. I had a 28' th that i could get into the driveway pretty well. I sometimes had to take a couple tries. I had to maneuver the th between a mailbox and a fence at the end of my driveway.Its a single car width driveway at the end and it widens to 2 car .I think Im gonna make my mailbox removable so i can get a bigger 5er and make it easier to back in. My other rv was not a 5er either which will make it easier. I think if i do that then its just a matter of how long the driveway is. I dont think ill have an issue clearing anything. When i had my th in the driveway hooked up to the truck, i never measured to see how much length was left. But I could open the garage door on the th and still have room. Across the road from my driveway is just trees and grass. Kind of hard to explain I guess. Is there anyway to do this?

If you are comfortable with the 28' toyhauler, and did not get stuck in the ditch across from your driveway, then a 36' will probably fit OK. But remember that it will take more space across the road to get the larger trailer into the driveway, and past the first narrow section.Also consider what approach angles will be, and if you will get high centered going into the driveway. If it is all fairly level, nothing to worry about. But if you where to measure the distance on your 28' from the truck rear axle to the trailer axles, it will be about 6 or 7 feet more on a 36' long fifth wheel. Before we purchased our 5er, my driveway, street and parking configurations were clearly understood. You can only use your best guess for your situation.

An option would be to purchase a Power Dollyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dJjPry-Ko4Or a used forklift...many manufacturers use forklifts to move the 5th wheels around the manufacturing facility.Both of these make for tighter turning

Length cannot be changed. That only leaves driving skill. That can be improved with practice.

However, the OP asked: "Is there any way to do this" and I think there may be some things that can be answered on how it could be done:

1) Use a good accurate measuring device (tape measure comes to mind).

2) Learn how to back a trailer. (I'm being a bit tough with this comment, but since he HAD a 28 TT previously, did he have an extra 10 feet? 20 feet? of "the open space across the street" that he alluded to when he backed or did he require every last inch of maneuvering space when he backed in or pulled out?) I would hope that someone who has been driving a trailer for a while might know if he had "nothing to spare" or had "10 or 20" feet to spare.

IF you are planning to store the trailer on your property be sure to check the “CC&Rs associated with the property.

Many cities and counties have restrictions on how close to the street and an occupied building the trailer can be.

The county road we live on is very narrow (9' lanes, road is only 18' wide) with deep ditches on both sides...our TT is 32' and just fits in the driveway. The issue is not the driveway, it has wide flares on both sides, but the width of the street itself. I'm limited by how much I can cut the wheel when backing in, as it is, the front tire of the burb is right on the edge of the pavement across the street and I can't the TT completely straight. I wind up just getting it across the ditch into the driveway and it heads for the lawn...of course easy to straighten out, but if the road was a little wider I could go in straight to begin with.

Its 376 chestnut ridge rd rochester ny 14624. The white angled fence i cant move. But, like i said if i make the mailbox removable, the driveway length is the only limit right? I could always hookup/unhook in the street and piss people off :) Just kidding
