Ques - Slide Wiper 'Thingies'

Searches unsuccessful; no local dealers to visit.

What are the 'rib-like things' I've heard about that you can put on the slides to make sure the rubber wipers (seals?) flop in/out properly?

Do they work? Once stuck on the slide will they stay or does repeated extending/closing peel them off?

Where do yo get them? Tried searching thru Camping World and couple other online RV stores, couldn't find anything. (Don't help not knowing exactly what it is I think I'm looking for.)

Problem is that after opening up I almost always have to manually flop the rooftop wipers out flat - about half the wiper remains curled up underneath.

Which leads to follow on question: does it matter that the wiper doesn't completely flop out like it should?

Yep they are wipers. The round molding strips around the perimiter are what actually seal (if you can call it that)
  • In 7 yrs of FT travel opening/closing three slides every week I found it doesn't matter whether they flop or not.

They do not seal the slide out....they just wipe the sides & top and they will wipe regardless of their orientation.
  • I have read that some folks position a strip of Eternabond Tape on the side of the slide to accomplish what you are asking about.

disclaimer: I haven't so have no real experience with it.
  • I asked Winnebago about that and they said it doesn't matter. They are meant to wipe water and debris for the exterior surfaces of the slide.
