Water Pump

Hello all,

New to RVing here. I plan on only using my rig when it is connected to water and power. I do not plan on doing any boon docking. With that being said when my water is connected to the campsite water supply am I still using a water pump to get water to the faucets? Or is it like a house where the water lines are just pressurized and ready to go?

Thanks all so much in advance as I am sure there will be a ton more questions to come.

    Nothing to add to the original question and answers, but a tip that could be helpful..

    If you are ever in a situation where your campground water connection has very low pressure, you can improve it by turning on the pump even though you are connected to the campground water.

    Occasionally comes in handy.

    My water pump is under my kitchen sink, but apparently they can be placed anywhere, sometimes under the bed.

    it would help if you posted brand and model of RV that you have, since you don't have it listed in your sig line.

    asking where something is, without posting what you own, isn't going to help you get the info you're seeking.

    You may find yourself 'boondocking' in a sense if you want to use the bathroom or wash something when stopped at a rest stop. We do that all the time so always run with plenty of water in our tank. Also, sometimes you expect a campground to have hook-ups and it doesn't. Not really related to your question; just an observation.

    Well you hope they put it near the water tank like the directions say but sometimes they mount it someplace idiotically far away.

    Water pumps tend to be located near the FW tank - you should be able to locate by the sound when they are running. Often in a compartment that is readily accessible like under dinette seat etc. If you provide info on your rig someone will likely be able to tell you exact location.

    When connected to shore water you don't need to use your water pump.

    You should always place a water pressure regulator between your rig and and the shore water supply - also remember to turn off the shore water at it's source if your leaving the rig for any time - otherwise if there is a break in one of your plastic fittings the shore water will flood the rig.
