Weight of 5th wheel hitches

Being a rookie What is the approximate weight of a 5th wheel hitch. I have a 1 ton Silverado and would like to know so I don't go over my cap. with the pin weight. Thanx
  • That's like asking what does a 19 year old boy weigh? There are a wide variety of hitches from Reese to Trailer Saver...some are 150-200 lbs and my Trailer Saver is about 300 lbs Best way is to pick out the one you like and look up the weight. Always go bigger in hitch rating...If your trailer has a 2000 lb pin weight, get one rated for 2500 or more.

Ok was just curious and I wanted to make sure I didn't over my truck cap. Like I said I'm a rookie so I guess it was a dumb question . sorry
  • The B&W Turnover Ball hitch and Companion 5th wheel are just shy of 300 lbs.

That still leaves me with a bit over 5k lbs load capacity. Now deduct for the extra 80 gals of fuel, I'm still over 4500 lbs available for pin weight. Opps I keep forgetting all that extra junk I throw in the bed. I think I'm getting FAT.

My 1 ton is a little broad in the hips, but that's a dually for ya.
