2014 Compass Dinghy

I just purchased a 2014 Compass with a manual transmission. According to the owners manual the transmission must be in neutral and the key in the ACC position. According to the dealership, this vehicle no longer has a locking steering wheel when the ignition is off. My question is why the key needs to be in the ACC position if the steering wheel is no longer locked. The dealership could not provide an answer.
  • Just go by what the manual tells you to do. Period, end of story.
Don't always believe what the dealer/salesman tells you. They didn't write the manual.
Had a salesman and a service tech tell me that my Subaru Crosstrek/manual tranny should not / could not be flat towed, which was the opposite of what the manual states. Contacted Subaru directly and talked with a Subi engineer who told me no problem towing, follow the owners manual.
So, just follow the owners manual's recomendations.

  • I just purchased a new 2014 jeep compass this year. Mine is automatic/manual. So I haven't experienced that, the only thing for my jeep is that the key kinda sticks in the ignition a bit. Have to give it a little giggle.
