- ol_Bombero-JCExplorerChances are slim and none you will hear from someone who has had both.:S
Owners of the brand they own - will be the brand they prefer..:W
Believe in their preference - or decide which *YOU* prefer!..:C
BTW - chances are also slim and none, the owners of whichever brand will say they wish they had bought the "other one"!..:(
~ - B_O__PlentyExplorer III have a TrailAir. If you look at how little travel they actually have they can't really do too much. Mine only moves 2-3 inches up and down. I've run it with barely any air due to the fact that it leaks and haven't really noticed much if any difference. Just my opinion.
B.O. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIJust look how close the kingpin is to the pivot point on the 5th AB. Now look how far away the kingpin is from the pivot point on the TrailAir. The TA will allow much more up and down movement, it's simple geometry.
- C_SchomerExplorerJust read all the mfgrs descriptions... They all claim to be the best! IDK, but my 5th ab works great. The first owner ordered the 5er with the 5ab and the side winder. I didn't need the side winder with my LB truck so I ditched the side winder and kept the 5ab. Craig
- My “08” Montego Bay had the 5 airborne.. I traded that fiver for my recent Redwood which has the Flex-Air by Trailair . . In MY opinion, the Flex Air wins hands down...
We had the tri-glide at first but had issues with the roller pins ( even though I greased all 9 zerks) , that was swapped out for the Flex-Air under warranty. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

Chucking is a fore and aft condition. Not an up and down condition that the Airborne and TrailAir are designed to dampen.
I have the TriGlide on my TrailAir air bag pinbox that helps control the "chucking".
MORryde has a pinbox designed to control chucking but does not address up and down cushioning. - craig7hNomad IIWhen I had my 5th wheel I had the 5th AB king pin. I felt it did a good job handling tbe chucking. The key is the air pressure in the air bag.
- JesLookinExplorerWe have 5th airborne. Works OK for us. Other one probably would work OK also.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIIJust look at the geometry of the two. Airborne has an angle that will give a small amount of fore n aft movement. The TrailIAir has a longer jaw that will allow for a much more straight up and down movement of the kingpin. I have owned three and would buy again!
