At 12:30 PM MDT June 25 field crew reports good progress working on containment lines. Large timber burning within containment lines will be putting up smoke this afternoon. Fire has not grown in size, best estimate now is less than 20 acres, probably more like 12-15 acres. IC sounded optimistic on work so far.

As of 4:45 p.m. Monday, the fire burning near the Lost Park Wilderness area in Park County had grown to 5 acres.
Park County Undersheriff Monte Gore said firefighters and equipment from the Jefferson-Como Fire Protection District, the Bailey-based Platte Canyon Fire Protection District, the Fairplay-based North-West Fire Protection District and the U.S. Forest Service were either en route or on scene.
Gore said deputies from the Park County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene.
The fire was first reported on Topaz Mountain, 10 miles due south of Shawnee, but Gore said Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener radioed in an updated location of the fire.
The fire is burning in the Ratcliff Gulch area, about five miles southeast of Jefferson.
Gore said he believes the fire is being called the Lost Park fire.
Kevin Copeland, a broker at Jefferson Real Estate in Jefferson, said smoke wasn’t visible from Jefferson, but he’s heard people say the smoke is visible from Como.
“The mountains are too high and blocking it from being seen,” he said.
Copeland said he’s been listening to the police and fire scanner to get his updates. As of 4 p.m. Monday, he hadn’t heard any indication of the size of the fire. - JiminDenverExplorer III called the South Park ranger district office for info.
The ranger said that they have 40 personnel and some helicopters fighting the blaze. No info on size or direction of travel, it just depends on which way the winds blow.
