App for Propane Refill Prices in US

Has anyone found an APP that gives up to date propane refill prices by state, city, locality?

If so please post.

Note: Gas Buddy does not list propane prices. Neither do the websites for the large chains like Fly J/Pilot etc.

Thanks

I’m several years late in answering the original question, but I recently launched an app called Propane Patrol to help RVers find propane refill locations and compare price per gallon. I’m still working on adding smaller independent refillers, but it should help out in a pinch!

An app like GasBuddy would be useful.

However, I just don't think there is the volume of interest to support such an app, nor the number of users to report prices to make it worthwhile.

One of the hassles of having to go get propane is that sometimes the cost of driving the TV to the best price location is greater than the savings on the propane.

Propane prices to the consumer are determined by the SELLER. The prices range all over the place within each state and from state to state.

I was shocked to find out propane is NOT regulated. 😞

One propane company wanted to charge me almost 5 bucks per gallon and another said 4 but that was what he called an introductory rate and the next tank would be over 4. I was paying $2 up north. :R

Keep in mind these figures relate to what they pay wholesale. They can then charge the customer what ever they want.
Free enterprise? Oh, the Horror. Wouldn't the world be much better if it was just governmentally mandated that the price was $5.00 a gallon everywhere? Then you wouldn't have to waste your time finding a good deal.

FJ, UHaul and TS all list their propane prices on their web sites. I found TS is cheaper than the other two but not all TS stores have propane and not all can accommodate a MH so you have to call. In practice when I travel I check FJ along my route and fill in the cheapest state. At home I use the the closest U Haul. Southern and Western states are always cheaper than Ct.

The price I pay for propane for our upstate NY cottage is based on the current spot market wholesale price plus a fixed markup determined by our average annual usage. Our last 250 gallon top off was at $1.64/gallon. The local cylinder refill station in the area gets about $3/gallon currently.

Your local propane shop, CG, or gas station that sells propane is the same prices listed on those links at which they buy wholesale and then sell it retail. Nothing like how gas prices are determined.

I suspect those links are for commercial propane dealers.
