Beware RV Repair of Florida, LLC

Recently, strong winds lifted my awning onto the roof of my motor home. It was obvious that damage had been done to the support arms but we were still able to roll the awning up and store it preventing further damage.

RV Repair was contacted and asked to give an onsite estimate for insurance purposes. Technician came out, looked things over and said his office would contact me. Then he said there was a $50 charge for the estimate -- first time I heard that.

They contacted me and said parts were no longer available for my awning -- 18' Dometic 8500 and Dometic suggested that I install a new awning for $1955.00 (tax & install incl).

A second repair company came out and said they had all the necessary replacement parts in their truck and could do the repairs right then and there. Total for parts was $75.00. Labour was $300 which included replacing parts, re-aligning the arms, re-tensioned springs, some minor cosmetic repairs and 1/2 service call.

Quite a bit of difference between an honest company and one that wants to rip off the insurance company.

The company that I hightly recommend is Randy's Mobile RV Service - 1-407-497-7266 -- next day on site repairs.
  • Yea, you say the word "insurance" and the price immediately goes through the roof and repair shops don't want to mess around fixing anything broken or damaged, they just replace everything and get a larger profit margin. You pay the same amount with your deductible, either way no difference to you. So the jack the repair with all NEW.

I hit a mail box with the fat fender of my truck a few months ago. We talked to our insurance company (got miss-information), but decided to go ahead an foot the bill ourselves, but we did go to the repair shop they recommended.

Got to the repair shop and told them I was paying cash myself and needed it fixed and would appreciate an estimate first to determine if I really had enough cash for the repair. They gave me the estimate. It was around $1200 for everything. I made the appointment for a week later for the repair.

Meanwhile, got a hold of our insurance agent then and he clarified all the confusion. Actually, we had vanishing detectable which was at $0.00 and no accidents (ever) so this did not affect the good driving status. We could get it repaired with no affect on our insurance, except the deductable would increase to $500 again and vanish $100 every year going forward again. So we decided to go ahead and use the insurance.

Met with another agent for the estimate who told us, because we already had the estimate and this was one of their preferred service centers, we didn't have to do anything. He faxed the info to the repair shop. I went by the repair shop to confirm the appointment and they already had the fax. I could tell they were a little annoyed! They HAD to honor the estimate they gave me. After all was done, I talked to my agent again. He said that was one of the lowest cost repairs he'd ever seen!

    Imagine that!

Thanks for posting a 'good' review for a RV mobile Repair.

I had this same thing happen to me when a tornado touched down in the CG I was staying at.

I had the fabric replaced on site. The one thing no one checked was where the bottom of the awning arm attaches to the RV.

Months later I was getting water on the carpet by the bathroom and couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

Check where the bottom of the awning arms bolts onto the side of the MH and make sure they are not stripped and loose.

Mine sits right on the side seam and all of them are only drilled into the thin wood flooring of the coach. Barely supporting all the weight of an awning and the stress of putting it up and down on a good day let alone being ripped around from the storm.

Mine 'were' loose from the storm damage and water seeped in there into the wood and was wicked up by the carpet every time it rained.:R
  • 6 months from now will your repair still be good?

We lived in Fl for over 17 years and all I can say
is to be leery of any business in Fl.
