Bradenton/St. Petersburg - Firewood

We are camping again this year at Fort De Soto. Last year we went on Craigslist and found a firewood supplier since the park wood is expensive and not always dry. It worked out really well.

We are planning to do the same again this year, but I thought before I go and look for a random place, maybe someone in the area has a suggestion of a reputable place (good prices) to buy firewood in the area?

Thanks
  • We were in Lake Placid for the last 2 weeks. In that period it was in the low to mid 80's everyday and two days our outside thermometer hit 91 and 92. Ran the air several days to cool the 5th wheel down in the evenings. Tampa- St. Pete areas were near record with a couple days that set record highs. They are running about 10+ degrees warmer than normal. Spent the 3 weeks prior on the coast in northern Florida and they were having cooler than normal with several nights in the 20's.

That sounds amazing. It's 0 degrees (32F) here at home right now, I can't wait to sit on the beach in 80 degree weather! I hope it sticks around for a few more weeks!

It was about 20 in Maryland when we left last Thursday. Its warmed up some since then... but no where near as nice as it is down here. Just came back from the beach, BEAUTIFUL out here!

I live in Palmetto but work in downtown Bradenton. Most of the Publix markets around here sell firewood. There is a place in Palmetto on Canal road that would sell you a wheelbarrow full of wood for $20. I had been going there for years but recently I drove past there and didn't see the sign. The family owns a tree cutting business and they have huge piles of wood (oak, pine, hickory, etc).

Thanks, I will look up that place on Google Maps and bookmark it.

Ha, I'm down in Bradenton right now. I don't know where you could even buy firewood down here. Its been mid 80's every day and upper 60's every night. I don't know that I could sit by a campfire in those temps!!!
