Broken Onan breaker Switch

As always, thanks in advance for the kind advice!

Last week in glorious Yosemite it seems I tripped the breaker on my Onan Genrator. When I went outside to check it out I realized that the switch was completely loose and every time I tried to flip the switch, the switch would get pushed back into the housing from my finger pressure. The entire switch appears to be loose. I am not sure how else to explaine it. Basically, I couldn't reset.

So, like an idiot, I thought maybe I could use some pliers to grab it and reset it since I couldn't get ahold of it and pinch it with my bare fingers. That resulted in my accidentally breaking the little plastc switch.

So now not only is the switch too loose to reset, but it is also broken. Is this a hard or easy fix? Give me the news Doc. ;)
  • Fairly easy replacement if you're conversant with hand tools.
  • Call PPL parts store have it shipped to you and one hour later you are up and running.
  • Be sure the generator isn't running when you replace it. :B

    Wow, that's fast shipping! :B
  • I guess I should have added "wait two days" than in one hour your up and running. Although now that there is an Amazon fulfillment center less than an hour away from my home we have actually gotten items in less than 24 hours.
  • Thanks everyone.

It look as if there might be a few panels to remove to get at the switch. The switch is on the bottom right edge about half way back behind a piece of metal/panel with a small hole for just the switch to stick out. Not the easiest thing to get at. Onan 4000. I will have to have another look at it when I have time to go back to storage.
