So I am torn between a couple RV's. Let's keep discussion between these 2 please. They literally both have an identical floor plan and options. There are some minor differences, but the only feature advantage goes to the used rv that is 6" wider and 1' longer, but comes at a $1400 premium.The new RV has a 3 year warranty, the used NONE. So to get to my real concern, would you pay $1400 premium for the 1 year used Jayco (2017) with NO warranty? Or go with the new (assumed lower quality) rv with a 3 year warranty. I am very nervous about spending this kind of money on RV without warranty, but every is telling me the price I am getting for the Jayco is flat amazing? Kind of like should you buy a used BMW or new Chevy?

How good is the warranty? If the manufacturer will not pay warranty claims the dealer won't do the work. Sometimes a long term warranty is a way to entice the buyer into buying a product that he wouldn't normally want to. A Korean car with a 10 year warranty comes to mind.It sounds like you are sold on the new unit but many folks on this Forum only buy used because all/most of the warranty work has already been found and fixed.

Jayco factory warranty is 2 years and it does NOT cover appliances. Each appliance has its own warranty.

It strikes fear in me. Seller won't move off the price.

I choose the Jayco, dealer came in with great interest rate which offset the additional cost compared to Coleman, and at the end of the day the extra 6" width and 1" length, along with additional storage and higher quality swayed us toward the Jayco.

So to sweeten the deal the Jayco dealer got me 5.99% vs 6.99% for the Dutchman. So this means that even thought the Jayco is slightly more, I will actually pay less in interest, which makes both payments very similar (less than $10 month difference) now. With the Jayco being 6" wider and 1 foot longer, and the fact it will hold better resale, I think the smart decision is to go with the Jayco and maybe buy a $600 (2 year) good sam rv warranty to cover anything major.

Dealer is getting frustrated with me...lol. Said that was his final price and he has others interested. One thing is for sure, I did a search on RV trader and called the biggest Jayco sellers and they are not touching his ask of $21,900. Most are $26k for 2017.

Dealer is a dealer. If he had someone who wanted to buy it, it would be sold already. Don’t believe that he’s holding it for you.....
If warranty is important buy the new one, if residual value is important buy the used one. If your keeping it for a long time, neither really matters.

Does either RV have the China bomb tires that you will have to replace as soon as you get it home.oponion of some on these forums.that could be a deal breaker if you had to buy new tires.

Well at thoes prices sounds like a good deal on either one if you can't find any major problems.

I have become a Jayco fan after owning a couple of them. I am also a fan of owning a RV that is covered under warranty. The answer to the OP's question? Buy a new Jayco. Dealers often ask close to new price for a used unit, while private owners make huge discounts. Shop the Internet for a new model of what you "really" want.

Are you saying they want $31000 for the new Dutchman and $32400 for the Jayco that is the only way i can figure out the $1400 premium you mentioned. If that is correct you would be paying full msrp.on the Dutchmn what nobody really does .
