Coiled Fresh Water Hose - Any Good?

I have tried the supposed "no kink" white fresh water hoses but have not found one yet that won't kink when trying to coil it up for storage. For those using the coiled water hoses, are they working OK? Do they stretch out to the 25' measured length and then auto coil for storage?

We have one of the white hoses that is flat when disconnected. I coil it when finished with it and it fits in a plastic mailing bag about 12" square. It is the original hose the first owner purchased and while I had to replace the female end it is still like new. Can't get much more compact than a 12" X 12" X 1" package for storage.

Get a regular white hose for potable water, it's designed not to allow the inside to be porous. Next get a "Cordpro" cordpro.com and coil your white hose without kinking. Only unroll as much as you need. Been using it for three years - works great!

Yes to all the above, however the hose only lasted 1 season for me.

Why did it last only one year. And to be sure, this is what I am talking about, although not this specific brand.

No, the one I had was the GREEN as seen on TV hose

Yes 50ft is tough to handle. We have two 25ft hoses. Usually only one is needed. As we all know there are those few times you're glad to have the extra.

We got a green one for our rinse off hose. Yes we use 2 one for the TT, and one pulled to the front of the TT to rinse our feet off. It worked as advertised. Stored very easily.

As to the triping hazard. No one should be walking between the faucet, and the TT. Lots of other stuff to trip over there, including electrical cords.

As to drinking from them. If a regular water hose would kill you. My generation would never have made It to 10 years old. They are all we drank out of outside in the summer time. Even the water fountains sat outside in the weather all winter, and who knows what kind of stuff fell down into the pipe. So a water hose is the least of my worries. We just let them run a few minutes and drank our fill. and We SeAm oT BE jUsT DaNNdY

Some time ago.. I was watching an Internet TV show (Ham Nation, about Ham Radio) and they showed me a coiling method that made sense.. And it turns out the hose does not kink nearly as bad.. They called it the "Over and Under" method..

But try this next time you coil your white hose.

Holding the first coil in your LEFT hand, Palm toward you...
Now turn your hand so the palm is away from you.. Then make the 2nd turn.
Turn palm back toward you for the 3rd turn (And all following odd number turns)
Turn palm back away for the 4th and all even number turns)

See how it uncoils next time

A better way is to the over under method,, (The above is a variation on it)
IN this you pass the even number coils UNDER the hose in your hand.. I can not describe it, You would have to watch the video.. And I have no clue as to which of the 150 episodes it is Julian Frost may know (some of the episodes contain contact info for him)

I guess if the hose were in a public walkway I'd be concerned about a coiled hose being a tripping hazard. However on the street side of my RV who is going to trip over it? There is no one walking between RV and hose connection. The hose is no more of a hazard than a 3" sewer hose.

I have used a white coiled hose for over 5 years now and it works just fine. Easy to store. My only complaint was I could only get a white one in the half inch size I prefer 5/8". I am still using it and would not part with it. The o/p who mentioned the coils present a trip hazard is right. Then so is your sewer hose, and a myriad of other things around an RV. Awning struts get me every time.

Yep. Get a 25' one. It will belong enough 90% of the time, and is much easier to coil. Save your 100' one for when you need more.

I have used the green coiled hose from Big Lots for years.

I am not concerned about the last twenty five feet,
when I have no idea of the condition of the thousands of
feet of water pipe leading to the spigot!
