Cyclone vent install- mount to existing sewer cap collar?
I recently purchased the Camco Cyclone RV holding tank vent in an attempt to reduce or remove any smells from the holding tanks of entering the camper.
In attempting to install it, I was hoping to not disturb the existing caulking and dicor underneath I already have around the existings sewer collar. Additionally, I discovered the sewer pipe itself is much smaller in diameter than the Cyclone and was not centered properly around the sewer collar from the initial install.
I was hoping to install the cyclone within the existing sewer collar as it fits nearly perfectly, though it is raised above the sewer pipe itself given the off-center factory install as per the above picture. I would use 5 screws around, caulk the seams together, and eventually wrap the connection of cyclone and sewer collar with eternabond.
Has anyone tried their install this way? Should I be concerned that this install is inviting a leak to the roof or any other caution? Will it remain secure as others may have found or tried with their install?
The only other options forward I'm aware of are to either:
1) uninstall the cyclone and replace the old cap on the sewer collar or
2) remove large amounts of eternabond and dicor around the collar, remove the collar, buy a larger pvc extension to go around the pipe and within the cyclone, and then cover with eternabond/dicor as needed. This option appears quite an involved project for what I once thought a not as long DIY install.
