So we're heading south to the Gulf in a week or so. We are looking for a nice RV Park somewhere between Houston all along the coast to Tallahassee area. We have a 34 foot trailer. Just looking for some nice Campground recommendations that allow dogs and that is close to the beach and obviously the beach has to allow dogs. Thanks in advance!

Our pups love it there, It's east of St. George Island.

There is an undeveloped area immediately to the west of HoHum, and at low tide, we were able to walk over there and turn the dogs loose (although my dogs have never shown any interest in the ocean - must be the funny-tasting water?). The other drawback to dogs running loose on the beach (of course you will pick up after them!) is that if they find a dead critter or fish, chances are they will roll in it....LOL!

In Florida dogs being allowed on a beach is a local matter, not a state one. Until recently I lived by the beach just south of St. Augustine, in St. Johns County, and dogs were allowed on the county beachs (which run for miles) but had to be leashed.

Here is the skinny from Fla. State Parks web site.
It states that dogs are welcome but not allowed not in cabins or on the beach
We took our three Chihuahuas and they were welcome, and We live more than 100 miles from Top Sail.

Thanks for all the replies. I was also wondering about other resources like the Good Sam one mentioned above. We are not too familiar with all of those such as Woodall's, etc. Any other recommendations like books or clubs, etc?

No dogs on the beach in FL, or state parks in AL. gulf shore state park has a dog park but on a lake. Buccaneers state park in MS has a few small beaches(using the word loosely) and dogs can be on.
I just saw the other post. I know there are no dogs allowed at top sail, Henderson beach, and many others alone the panhandle. Visiting relatives on the panhandle living in a condo, his dogs could but ours couldn't because we weren't residents.

All Florida State Park campgrounds are dog friendly. Top Sail is a good one for the area you are looking at. It was a RV Park prior to Fl. buying it, it has all the hook ups including cable TV. Good Sam camping book might also help you out with your research Good Luck and Happy Camping
