Drones illegal

They just banned the use of any drone in the East Bay Regional Parks here in northern CA. I won't be surprised if the State follows this law by making it illegal in all the State Parks real soon. Next will be in the National Parks. They claim it disturbs wild life and is dangerous to the safe operation of law enforcement that uses aircraft and helicopters.
I think these drones are amazing toys, I wish they had these when I was younger but there are just too many morons out there that don't have common sense. Too many near-miss stories.
Have any other states ban them from use in their parks?

Very simple solution: Require all operators to have a "pilots license". This will require the operators to get training and understand the guidelines for operating in a critical airspace.

Why not just require a $$$ permit to use them. More cash for the government.

There is a BIG BIG difference between RC Hobby enthusiasts and a bunch of idiots now able to buy cheap drones with cameras on them.

Just last week a drone with a camera was hoovering peering into a bathroom window at some ones house while the wife was showering. They called police and police said they couldn't do anything. :R

Another one was hoovering over the back yard of someones house and the owner shot it down.....HE is the one in jail. :R

They better come up with some real strict laws about these drones real quick or it's going to be a real mess.

For now if one comes anywhere near my property it's coming out of the sky one way or another. :B

And then you will be in "jail". :h

By this logic, ALL motorized vehicles should be banned from ALL use, as they cause way more damage than any drone.

In fact, PEOPLE should be banned, as they are the cause of ALL damage.

People associate the name "drone" with a drone airplane used by the military and get their panties all in a bunch. If you call them: quadcopters, helicopters, etc... nobody would care. I fly large Rc airplanes which could do a lot of damage if someone wanted to do that with them. Some planes at my local club field are upwards of 30+ pounds and some fly well over 100 mph. My planes have 7-9' wingspans.

We don't need any more stupid laws. I'm ok with just enforcing the laws we have.

I really don't care what they are called, they are anoying, I'm glad for the recent registration requirements and hope there are more restrictions on the use and tracking of owners/operators.

Drones are very cool and some of the videos I've seen are amazing, but it's only a matter of time before some idiot takes down a plane or helicopter and kills someone.

All you folks who claim RC flyers are different... We lived out in the country with lots of acres. RC planes were flying over our property and home often. We complained to them many times. It continued. We moved. We now have one tiny acre and neighbors - no loud toys fly over us.

Not looking forward to drones.

Replace the word drone with gun in all of the posts. Same argument.

Drones have created problems in fighting wildfires as droners try to get good video of the fires and impede firefighting aircraft. Ownership of the device does not guarantee brains or judgment. And, yes, I would happily shoot one down if it harassed me.

If the FAA requires a 400' ceiling I could see drones need to self limit altitude with license and insurance required to go over. Can't imagine why over 200' would be needed. Just don't fly over the edge of a cliff....
Actually they have a drone with a net they can use to intercept.
