- BigdogExplorerI used to use my Pacific Pride/CFN card and had no problems with fueling and usually got a better price than the local pump price by $.10-.50 a gallon, but my card dealer went bankrupt and now the company I have just charged me $.30 some more than the local pump price,so they won't be used except in an emergency. I did apply for the Good Sam card and that's s'posed to be good for an $.08 discount over pump price and all you have to do is swipe it. You do have to pay in full at the end of the month, but your PP/CFN card is the same.
I do love just being able to pull into those PP stations as they're usually large enuff for any size rig and usually not busy. - big_bird_2ExplorerAlso, Wall-mart sells plastic fuel tanks that fit into the truck bed and also have a fast syphon pump. 24 gal two tanks less than $100 total.
- big_bird_2ExplorerI got an RV card from Love's and now I go to the truck lanes and get the same price as the big rigs. I use my AMX card no problem at the pump.
- SpleenstomperExplorerOk. I assumed he was in the rig but, yes, was likely inside paying, mystery solved. Yes, this is the first time we have taken the RV farther than 3 hours. We are finding out that fueling up is a hassle in some places. We didn't unhook last night-- just stopped for 8 hours. I can see how unhooking would provably be easier,

we don't often stop at Love's any more because in NC they charge us about a nickel more to take on fuel in the big truck lanes than they do in the automotive lanes .... no clue why

That one I can answer.. Several states have adopted the tax plan of "Soak the businessman" cause "he is rich and can afford it".. Well,
I can tell you what is wrong with that but, politics are not encouraged here so I won't.
The result is that the taxes are HIGHER at the SEMI pumps than at the Automotive pumps. RV's are, usually, classed as "private" non-commercial, and thus eligible for the lower (Car) tax rate.
In at least one state the decision is based on weight (26,000 pounds is automotive, 26,000 pounds and one ounce.. Commercial rate)
SOME Auto/Truck stops will "Adjust" the pump price when you present either your RV loyalty card or other evidence of driving an RV, some .. You are stuck with the price on the pump you pumped from.
In fairness to the latter.. The kind of computer programming needed to be one of the former is kind of expensive. - hitchupExplorerI think nearly all Truck Stops are RV Unfriendly. Since we don't like spending the night in a Truck Stop or Wal-Mart, we filled up before pulling into a nearby RV Park. Finally got tired of it 2 years ago.
Now, we pull into Campsite, unhook, set up so the cats can do their thing and then go fuel up and maybe eat out. There's too many long lines in the Truck Lanes and occasionally an out-of-work Pump. It's so much more restful to pull in, fill up and go back to the 5er, watch a little TV and go to bed.
Disclaimer: my DH has built Love's Travel Ctrs. We're in KS, on his 3rd one. - cochise49ExplorerFlying Js with RV lanes are the only places I am sure I will fit. Though when I had a DP, I would use truck lanes and just go inside to pay.

Thanks, everyone. Another thing that happened is the trucker who finished in front of us pulled up and then stopped and no lights on etc. just sat there. So we sat there trying to figure out why he only courtesy pulled up.
We were able to back up and turn around and go out the way we came in. Strange.
That's the protocol - fill up, then pull forward to go inside to pay so the next guy can start filling up behind you. She/he likely knows about how much time it takes a tractor trailer/truck to fill up and figured they had that much time. Smaller rigs fill in much less time. - SpleenstomperExplorerThanks, everyone. Most will have a phone by the pumps. Pick up the phone, and they will answer. Usually giving them license number will be all that is needed. Them them you are a RV. They may have you come inside before fueling, or may turn on pump, and have you come in after. Pull ahead after fueling, then go in. Let the truck behind you fuel while you go in to pay. If you want to stay a bit, pay, then park, then go inside.
