The simplest thing for the door would be that the old door is now hinged at the bottom, and now opens down with steps welded on the inside. Makes sense to me.
Anyway, I like it.

It's possible there's some fold down steps from the old door, which is now a half-door. If not that then perhaps a door on the driver's side.

Look at the hood and A pillar in the first photo.

The light areas are reflections off the inside of the windshield.

The lighter portions look like light reflections to me. I think it's the real deal.
