Email List Problems Caused by Yahoo

When mine got hacked I traced it to a friend that has those 30 names attached to their emails so when they send an email it goes to all of their 30 friends. :R

If anyone knows how to find the way to get 'all' the way thru the change password please let me know. I NEED to get in there so I can change some of the important stuff. Tks.

I've found Yahoo and Hotmail are the worst email services. I send customers emails about there order status and Hotmail and Yahoo constantly block the emails without letting either party know. Emails never even reach their junk mail folder. It's gotten to the point where I tell my customers that they should use not use Yahoo and Hotmail.

I use my yahoo email as a junk account for those sites that insist they get my addy before letting me have a coupon or signup for forums; hotmail for friends and purchases, gmail for family and a proprietary address for work. None of my accounts are linked ever since the yahoo addy was initially hacked.It's more work but doesn't bother me to compartmentalise my online existence.

wow. well, i'm a heavy Yahoo user. I post to this forum with a yahoo address. I belong to around 35-40 yahoo lists and post to all of them with a yahoo address. I shop online using a yahoo address. all of my posts seem to get thru.

In the case of one of my mailing lists, I had to block all Yahoo subscribers from posting. Which I hate to do. But every time they posted I got a blizzard of bounces to deal with, and people on comcast, hotmail, and gmail were getting automatically unsubscribed because of the bounces triggered by Yahoo…

So I blocked them, posted an announcement to let them know, and to ask them to use alternate email accounts. Really all I can do now, though I haven’t checked today to see if Yahoo has changed anything.

This new problem doesn't affect just Yahoo and Google. It affects any person who is on an email list that also contains a person with a Yahoo account. Yahoo sets the "p" setting to "reject" on that person's post. "Reject" means that if anything has been changed - like the subject - think "Re: - or the sending email - listserve software virtually always changes the sending address to their own when forwarding mail to list members - the receiving server (yours) will bounce the message.

So when the message that started out on Yahoo gets to your email host, depending on how it handles the "reject" setting, it may well bounce the message back to the listserver. Most listservers are programmed so that if you get a certain number of bounced messages, you will be deleted from the list.

Therefore ... this can mess up **everyone** who is on an email list, and it can cause problems under other situations as well.

The only problem I've had is Facebook sent me a message saying my email address with centurylink.net was not valid. I know that it is but, have not been able to get updates or messages from Facebook for 24 hours now. I can still get there, and it knows who I am! But, it won't send me email notices. I'm about to give up and just accept that it won't work anymore. Computers are great devices but, once something like this happens then quite often there is no fixing it.

I use the Mail forward in mail setting for 3 years.
Never been an issue as of today.

I haven't been able to access my yahoo account for 2 months now.:(
It says to set a new password and asks me my secret questions and answers and takes me all the way to you are good to go and then nothing.
I've had that email hacked about 6 times too. Where yahoo locks it down but you could reset your pw not any more.

Interestingly the new threat out seemed to only affect yahoo and google. I don't think they are rivals I think they are getting in bed together real soon.

YAHOO RESPONSE:"As soon as we became aware of the issue, we began working to fix it... and we are working to implement the fix across the rest of our sites right now." Yahoo Homepage, Yahoo Search, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Food, Yahoo Tech, Flickr and Tumblr were patched. More patches to come, Yahoo says.

GOOGLE RESPONSE:“We have assessed the SSL vulnerability and applied patches to key Google services.” Search, Gmail, YouTube, Wallet, Play, Apps and App Engine were affected; Google Chrome and Chrome OS were not.*Google said users do not need to change their passwords, but because of the previous vulnerability, better safe than sorry.

My Yahoo isn't working as well as it has in the past. I'm not sure which email to go with. Charter and Yahoo are substandard at the moment. Have g-mail, but it is only ok.............
