? for others with 2013 or newer Jeep Grand Cherokee

I own a 14JGC Overland which recently was updated with the latest body computer revision at the dealer. My question for other owners is when shifting into neutral on the 4x4 and then holding the start button to turn off the engine, does the car shut off and automatically go into park? On mine since the revision, it seems to go into ACC and then I have to press the start button several times with foot off brake to get the vehicle to the off position. I seem to remember that before the update, it would just go to off when I held the start button in. My dealer claims that it is operating normally. I am just looking for confirmation from others as to the operation. TIA

There is an update out there too that makes it hard to get into neutral as well. Read about it and told the dealer not to do it.

That recall does not affect the 2013 and up JGCs.

  • thanks for the confirmation. i thought it went straight to off before, but i could have been mistaken. thanks again.
  • I can tell you with 100% certainty that you are correct. You end up at ACC, then have to press to get Run, the press to go off. That's how it works for some reason. BTW: This is only on 2014 and 2015 JGC's (WK's).
  • Mine does the same thing. I didn't relate it to the last computer revision, but that may have done it.
