Ford F250 Needs a New Antenna - Suggestions?

My new-to-me 2001 F250 came without an antenna. It has the premium OEM radio, CD player etc. inside. I want to re-install an antenna.

Probably the cheapest route would be for me to go to an auto parts recycler and get a straight replacement. However, is there a better choice for me regarding sound quality etc.?

Price is not the major driver as long as it is reasonable. ~ Bugjr ~
  • We have rather poor radio reception in our Ford E350. We are rarely close to a radio station but reception is excellent in the car. The antenna in the Motorhome is probably not fully extended and bumps into the underside of the cabover. I wonder if there might be an adjustment somewhere to tune the antenna to compensate for its reduced height or if it might just be maladjusted.
  • Ebay. Just had to buy one since the car wash ate my other one.
  • Thanks All. Back in the day there use to be antenna's that were marketed as being better at receiving long distance signals etc. I just wondered if there was any validity to their claim and whether that might be a better route to go.

PS - I still call them junkyards ... lol

Any aftermarket antenna with the proper base should work just fine.
  • Auto parts recycler. Is THAT what they're calling junkyards these days? :)

I was going to make the same suggestion to go to the APR.
  • I bought a replacement at Bi-Mart for about $10. Works great. Fred Meyer has them as well as Target and any auto parts store. We get the same reception with the replacemnt as we did with the OEM before I bent it.
