When I purchased the new trailer a few months ago I also went with the extended warranty, figured it couldn't hurt as the hourly shop rate around here is $107. Well since then I realized that I am not going to be able to deal with this shop for 7 years. The service manager has the personality of a toad and the parts department isn't much better. There turnaround time for any service work is over 2 weeks and I have been waiting for warranty parts for almost 3 month plus I have had to call and stop by the shop 4 times to keep them on the ball. I always get some bull story about this and that.What this place doesn’t understand is I deal with the best trailer repair shop in town (repair and fabrication, no camp trailer sales) on a weekly basis and I know how long these things take and over the last 15 years dealing with trailer repair shops as well as vehicle dealers I have heard all there bull stories so I know when I am being lied to.So has anyone been able to get out of the extended warranty and had the moneys involved refunded or am I stuck dealing with this place? Hopefully I don’t have a lot of problems with the trailer over the next 7 years or maybe the shop better hope I don’t as I can be a daily pain in their rear.

Just get a hold of the extended warranty company and ask to cancel it. You will need to fill out a cancellation form. You will get that money credited to your loan if you have one or a check if you paid for it

If you Pisz them off that should get you better service.

Are you sure the extended warranty forces you to the shop? Where you take it should not matter, as long as the shop you choose will do business with that EW company..........

I used my extended warranty, Don't let one shop cause you to cancel.

As you point out the hourly shop rate is 107 $. But warranty work is negotiated both on the number of hours to do a task and the hourly raate is less than half. When you check in to get work done, your priority will always be last, least , non existant.

If it is a Forest River product you can extend the Manufacturers warranty by 1 year for $100.

Alright I got out my paper work and made some phone calls. The service agreement is good at any repair shop that will deal with it so I will check with the other trailer repair shops around and see if they will. I need to figure out what is under manufacture warranty for how long, as I remember most of the trailer is covered for 1 year, I think the floor material is 3 years and I remember a couple things being 6 months. I didn't keep this stuff in the memory bank as I knew I had the extended so I will have to recheck this.

This is why it's so important to read the fine print of any EW, before buying in. Ridiculous clause!

When I sold Polaris ATVs we made about as much money on the extended warranty, insurance, policy as much as the ATV itself. Can't remember when I even had to honor a claim under one. Poor investment as far as I'm concerned.

As others stated, your RV comes with at least a one year warranty and if you bought a 7yr extended, then you really bought a 6 yr warranty. Years ago I bought an extended warranty and the company pssed me off so I cancelled it, expecting a refund check. Nope, they applied the refund to the end of the loan. Although I never actually saw the money, it paid off because when I went to sell the trailer, I owed less than I would've and made money on the sale. Read the fine print and call the company. My experience...any dealer that is an authorized dealer of the same manufacturer of you rig will service it under that manufacturers warranty.

Find another Eclipse dealer and take it to them for service.

Neither the manufacturer's warranty nor the extended warranty should require you to use any specific repair facility. You may have to travel some distance to find another factory authorized repair center during the manufacturer's warranty term, but during the extended warranty term you can use any reputable repair facility. Hopefully you won't need any repairs done during the manufacturer's warranty term.

If you decide to cancel, find the address and phone for the Third Party Administrator listed on the warranty contract and follow the directions for cancellation. Usually requires a request in writing. You should receive a pro-rated refund based on the time or mileage used, less a cancel fee.
