GFI Issues

Have 5th wheel which had w/4-100AH 12v batteries & Zantrex 1800 inverter. Batteries barely lasted 2 days, low power warning night of second day. Inverter failed, I upgraded to w/4-135AH AGM deep cycle 12v batteries and had the dealer install a new Zantrex "Freedom HFS 2250 inverter charger. Brought trailer home last week, this weekend heard beeping, propane detector low voltage, couldn't even get a light to glow. The only things that were operational were the Propane detector, and the hard wired charger/inverter. Plugged into shore power, GFI plug 115v/15a. GfI tripped, reset and tried again GFI tripped again. Can charge the batteries using an external charger with out issue, GFI does not trip. I am able to connect the trailer to non-GFI circuit and charge the batteries through the charger/inverter. I am thinking I have some sort of short somewhere draining the batteries, which I need to get resolved. Any suggestions, recommendations, troubleshooting ideas... Thanks

Some electric appliances/devices just do not play nice with GFI circuits. I recently ran into this with a pellet smoker. Contacted the manufacturer and found it's a known issue.

Hi,

My Magnum inverter/charger does not "like" many gfci outlets. It is an annoying situation.

I did (fortunately) keep the PD converter, so in those situations I can charge from it instead.

Turn the fridge AC Circuit Breaker OFF.....then try using the GFCI outlet to let inverter charger maintain batteries

Gfis trip because of a grounding or wiring issue in the 120vac circuits. Has nothing to do with battery power.
