Good experiences

I am glad that he was able to help you. I always try to help someone when traveling if I can. Sometimes I am told to mind my own business, but not often. One small act of kindness can go a long way and be remembered for a long time. It may be just listening to an older person who wants to talk and has no one to talk to or listen. I have heard some good stories from people in my travels. JMO

We were in Maine with a pop-up years ago and there were a lot of tent campers that got everything wet in a bad rain storm. Someone in a DP got out a 35 cup ( or something like that) and let all the wet tent campers come under his awning for coffee and eggs if they wanted.

We were camping along the beach in Southern California, the MH behind had an older couple and I noticed he had a tool chest out and kept going in & out of the MH always looking perplexed. I went over and asked if they were having a problem. He said they had a leak and he couldn't fix it. I offered to help, it turned out to be the connection for the cold water on their bathroom sink. I fixed it.

They were staying for a couple of weeks and so were we. After a few days of spending time together, even going into town for lunch; their 10 year old Granddaughter came to stay with them for awhile. A couple of days went by and the couple needed to head in to town to dump. They asked if we would watch their Granddaughter while they went in to town. We did.

For years we kept in touch with them and would from time to time meet for a camping trip. They lived in Texas but would come to California every couple of years to stay by the beach.

(Deb here) We were camped in Valdez, AK (Bear Paw II - right on the harbor) for several days - it was late summer, and several people were camped there who had brought boats and were catching their winter supply of salmon. I struck up a conversation with a nice woman while we did our laundry - she lived in Fairbanks and was killing time while her husband fished. The next morning, she knocked on my door and said "Come with me - you need to learn more about Alaska so you'll come back some day" She took me to the Valdez Museum (a fascinating place!) and then the day she and her husband were leaving, they gave us some fresh salmon!

A few years ago we where camping in a motor home in Rocky Mountain National park. On an adjacent site was a young Canadian, just married couple. They were just hiking and camping. They did not even have an ice chest. My wife and I invited them to join us for supper the second evening. Reluctantly, they accepted our invitation. Because they were so many years younger than us, I am not sure they knew what to expect being invited by total strangers. My wife fixed a very nice meal. They both insisted on washing the dishes after we finished eating. We sent them back to their campsite that evening with about a dozen home-baked cookies.

Before we left the next morning they paid us a visit to thank us for our hospitality. They were an exceptionally nice young couple.

I like these kind of stories, this is the camaraderie that I'm use to while camping. I have met people who have become good friends at RV parks. Some stop by the house when passing through my area.

Wow! what a great idea for a topic.We have had so many good experiences while camping I don't know where to start.Our favorite was meeting all our new friends at the RV. net tenn truck camper rally last fall.We spent three days,cookouts,pot luck dinners,campfire camaraderie and day trips.A great group of folks.
On other trips we have shared meals.watermellon,coffee,and ice cream with next door campers and made many friends,some we see often,some we will never meet again although we think of them often. Camping people are the best!
Ramp and family

A few years ago we were camping at Proctor Lake in central TX and I was sitting near the boat ramp watching the fishermen coming in and one of them asked me if we liked bass and I said you bet and he gave us about 8 striped bass about 2 pounds each! And a couple years later we were at Henry's Lake ID on the first day of fishing season and again watching the action and a neighbor offered us his catch of 3 very nice hybrid trout because he wanted to keep fishing:)
So I guess we just look hungry! Haha

Agreed. We enjoyed it very much! Not a bad apple in the bunch. Hope GoinThisAway will take point on organizing it again this year.

2 years ago we camped in a wonderful CG on Lake Winnebago. We had wonderful 3 sets of neighbors who fished just like we do. We had such a great time but didn't stay in touch. You know how life gets in the way.

This year, we camped in the same site and found them camped next to us again! This year we exchanged numbers and vowed to stay in touch. We shared a campfire nightly and they invited us to partake in the most wonderful Dutch oven roast we've ever had.

It was so much fun. We would call back and forth and give updates on the fishing. It's so much more fun to meet folks who have similar interests.

I think we're meeting up again in September.
