This rig was hit by lightning about 10 days ago in our Keys CG. Guess they could not get it going at all. Someone said the lightning went through a slide top and fried all the electrial. Also hit a tree beside it. No one injured except a slight injury to some tent campers close by. I had just gone to the john at about 3:30 AM and it sounded like a explosion.

They brought in 2 wreckers this size only one was needed. Took them about 2 hours to get the MH ready to tow and get it from around the other campers. Drew quite a crowd. Someone said they had to disconnect the drive train although I did not see that.

Don't know who they called but they did an amazing job getting it out and not hitting anything considering it was in the middle of a crowded CG.

Glad I did not have to pay that bill!!

I don't have a picture of ailable right now --but shortly after I bought the truck I currently have---- when I was Towing my fifth wheel--- the clutch went out of it (Turns out the Previous owner had the transmission and clutch replaced and the shop put in the wrong size clutch )....

Ended up with the two Wreckers-- a flatbed to haul my truck--- and a big wrecker haul my fifth wheel

thank God it was all covered...( dont even want to think about cost)

Had Coach Net but had already used them for roadside assistance ,so the $1000. bill came out of my pocket ! Not for the faint of heart ! Now I carry multiple coverages for roadside assistance !

Do mean that Coach Net only allows one use and that's it ??

Hello missnmountains,

I'm sorry to hear that Good Sam was not able to cover your tow! That is a benefit of our Roadside Assistance that's covered for our members. Can you please send me a private message with your contact information so that I can look into this more for you.

Thanks,
David

This was us in 2014. Had to be towed from Seward to Wasilla. Goodsam would not cover the tow. Thank goodness for Geico.

By the way, I am the one driving it onto the flatbed.

As far as disconnecting the drive train goes, all you would have seen is the service techs feet sticking out while he unbolted a universal joint and either tied up or removed the drive shaft. On a DP, he'd also have to either connect the tow truck's air to the coach's air brakes, or cage the coach's rear brakes to release them. Part of the delay was probably caused by having to manually retract the slides as well. That can be time consuming...
