Would a permanent marker / wide tip Sharpie (if anybody makes the shade you want) work on the white Command hooks? It might be necessary to go over it two or more times, but I've found that black and red wide-tip laundry markers will color most plastics. I've never looked, but I wonder if someone makes something similar in brown?
On a related subject, they now make a silver Sharpie. I've been using one for a few years to record oil change date & miles on the top of the fan shroud.
I use several sets of rechargeable AA batteries, and use a black Sharpie to number the sets so I can tell 'em apart.
