I use one of those plastic shower caps to cover my smoke detector when it goes off while I am cooking. I taped some plastic colored caution tape as streamers to the center of the outside of the cap. About 3 or 4 feet will be long enough to dangle and catch your eye. It's there to remind me to take the shower cap off when I am done cooking.
I hate to run the overhead fan on the RV stove, it just makes too much noise, so I now run our fantastic fan while I am cooking. So much quieter and the smoke detector doesn't go off as often now either!
