What are you guys wearing on your feet, house slippers or barefoot? Sturdy shoes makes the ladder comfortable. Modifying the ladder rungs is asking for trouble in my opinion. Neither of those 'solutions' are designed for continuous outdoor exposure and will fail at some point.
