Unfortunately, a high percentage of salesmen do use these techniques and it's the most successful ones so they tend to hang around in the business.
If you find a good one, do business with him because otherwise, he will soon move on to another job.
Then again, if you go in knowing what the game is, you can ignore it or even turn it against them.
