High receiver

I traded in my van for a 2013 RAM 1500 pickup. The truck's receiver is higher than the one on the van. When the trailer is hitched it's frame is 3 inches higher near the hitch than at the wheels, and 4 inches higher than at the back.

What do I need to do to make my trailer level?

  • Thanks folks. It's a weight distributing hitch. I bought a new tow bar with a longer drop down and had the service dept. transfer my hitch assembly to the new bar. Everything is fine :)

  • Are you using a weight distributing hitch, or, a standard draw bar type hitch?

As seen in post above, there are draw bars with longer drop.

There are also draw bars, made for weight distributing hitches, that have adjustable height. Check the brand and type of your hitch.
