We are fair game for most anything we can find along the way. Bluegrass festivals are a favourite but we wont miss an airshow, a factory tour or any kind of local motorsports. The most elusive event so far has been lawnmower racing. Have yet to find one that can be worked into a trip.

Thanks, Magnus. We had fun, yes it was chilly (specially 'til the wind died down), and the turnout was good. They had a 'healthy dinner' as a learning experience for students & families, then a talk about types of telescopes, then came outside. I've done maybe a dozen such events, and the students already had more knowledge and asked brighter questions at this one than others. A couple of our members were glad to use my mobile warming room for a bit during the event.

I kept Bitsa aimed at the Orion Nebula, and talked about the role of cosmic dust & gas in star formation. And they brought hot cider to us at the telescopes, a very nice touch.

Another amateur star-geezer here. I haul the old C8 to solo & club observing events. It also serves as a warming room for club members. I saw the supernova in M82 Sunday night from the pictured location... it's 12 million light years away.

My wife and I are canoe and kayak racers and when ever possible if one is a long distance, we will haul our trailer and then make a week camping out of it.
Then in the winter we spend four months in the Florida Keys in it exploring the various off shore Keys with our kayaks almost every day that the weather permits.
We have met and made many like minded people who we now meet and paddle with every year.
