Hunt Camp RV - Suggestions Needed

Well, its been a LONG time since I've logged on here. Just kinda got into other things to read online I guess ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, I'm in the market for a new unit to put out at our hunt camp. Unlike our primary 5er, I don't need all the bells and whistles. But for the first time in a few years, I looked at the prices of new campers today and...WOW!

My budget is $25K-ish. I don't need a bunkhouse, dinette, outdoor kitchen, 2 A/C's, or anything "extra". But at the same time, I don't want to buy into a real low end unit either. A queen bed and at least a couch that can fold out is all I need. It'll sit 4-5 months a year at the hunt camp (full hook-up and secure) and the other portion out besides my barn at home. I don't intend to use it for any of the normal camping we do.

So I'm honestly a little rusty on what's out there and what people's experiences have been with different units in the last few years, and I'm very open to suggestions. Keep in mind, though...I'm looking for NEW not used.

I know it might not be exactly what youโ€™re looking for, nor even remotely close, but a friend bought a 20 foot shipping container (AKA Sea Can) and didnโ€™t spend much at all to install a regular (but very tiny) S & B type kitchen, insulate it, wire & plumb it, then had it installed on some concrete pads normally used as footings for a mobile home.

Itโ€™s absolutely rodent & vandal-proof and very comfortable.

The people he bought it from cut the back end off and installed a second set of barn doors. They also added two more sets of barn doors one on each side. The doors cover all the doors and windows when closed.

Do you take an atv or a lot of other gear to your camp? If so you may want to look at the work n play models from forest river, basic tt functions and a small garage for a toy.

Buy a used one that may be past it's traveling days but would be fine for a permanent location. You can probably find one for a few thousand.
