If you can't decide if you want an RV or a boat

Terrawind sells a $1.2M floating Class-A RV

I just saw this today, but it's not exactly new, here's an article from 2004 for the same RV. Back then it "only" cost $850K.

Better have an iron stomach, in the videos looks like it rocks back and forth in the water (since there's no keel or anything else to steady it).

This would just be like a dual sport motorcycle. It is capable of doing both but not great at either.

At best an RV is a collection of compromises with wheels.

At best a boat is a bunch of compromises that float.

Combined the result does not do anything well except suck up money.

A house is also a bunch of compromises too.
- It sucks up a lot of money for property taxes every year in addition to maintenance.
- Try hooking it up to pull to the local state park or drop it in the lake at the nearest boat launch and come back and tell us how it goes.

Whens the last time you seen a house not appreciate in value ?? Whens the the last time you seen an RV or boat NOT start depreciating the minute you buy it.

And has been worth every penny to me. My RV is a place to eat and sleep, the boat is central to my hobby.

Although I've never heard the saying said about an RV like I have about a boat. "The two happiest moments in a boat owners life is buying ,and selling"

Thanks, but no thanks. I can get queasy just watching a boat rock and roll. ๐Ÿ™‚

Awhile back there was something called a boaterhome where the boat part separated from the chassis. The boat part was the living space of the rig when secured.

Been around for years but appears very impractical.

This seems much more practical and much more reasonably priced:

If one of the big white air bags springs a leak, will the RV roll over?

According to the first linked article, the low center of gravity keeps it from rolling over, but the slides can't be opened without the air inflated pontoons. With the pontoons, they claim it will handle 4 foot swells. The operator must exit the RV to inflate the pontoons, so it's best to decide if they're needed before launching... ๐Ÿ™‚
